Data Visualization AR

For this project, I was tasked with using Augmented Reality (AR) to digitally represent data in a manner that would be more effective than using a graph. Graphs lack the ability to visually represent data of high portions, which can lead to individuals becoming desensitized to the information displayed. The purpose of this project was to help individuals visualize the gravity of statistics displaying numbers in large quantities. To tackle this issue, I used a dataset representing the number of people that died due to fire related accidents in the year 2021 in the United States. The 5 categories of fire related accidents that I chose to represent are as follows:

  • Residential fires
  • Commercial fires
  • Highway vehicular
  • Other vehicle related fires
  • Any other category of fire related accidents

This project was designed to be experienced walking down a hallway, slowly revealing the statistics of the 5 categories aforementioned as the individual progresses down the path.
